The Journey Begins

Dawn has definitely broken and although it was absolutely freezing (literally) at Heathrow T4 Long Stay it looks like it's going to be a beautiful morning.

We got through security in record time, about 4 mins flat, and are now sitting in the less than auspicious Plaza Lounge; the soft furnishings are very nice but that's about it - food average and luke warm and very annoying piped 'musac'

Our flight leaves at 10:05 and should arrive in Mumbai at 00:30 tomorrow. Unfortunately we then have to collect our bags and go through security again before getting our connecting flight to Kolkata - I've read various reports on the Internet that it can take 90 mins to transfer and as we only have 2 hours between flights it could be a bit tight if we're late arriving.   Still that'll be Jet Airways problem as it's all booked on the same ticket.

We actually get to Kolkata at 04:55 Wednesday morning and hopefully there will be a little man waiting with a VJV sign to whisk us off to the Oberoi Grand Hotel as I'm sure neither of us will be able to string a sentence together by then.  We've booked an extra night there so we can go straight to our room and crash out for a couple of hours.  We then have the rest of the day to explore as there is quite a bit close to our hotel.  As far as I know there are another 6 people on the tour and leave England on the Wednesday overnight flight and will have to start the tour as soon as they arrive on Thursday morning - that happened to us in Vietnam and was not fun even though we'd had a flat bed seat on the plane.
